jackson simply tweeted, i can't stop crying, america died. all right. wendy walsh is here. human behavioral expert, specialist here. wendy, for some, this goes beyond just being angry. america died? what are we hearing here? >> well, i don't want to discount for one minute how real these symptoms are. i was on talk radio the other night and some of the callers were expressing major -- not only emotional distress but even physiological symptoms. vomiting, sleep disturbances, unable to eat. we should not discount that and we can't laugh about it. this is very, very serious. and i call it post-election stress disorder. i think there are a couple of reasons probably. one is with due respect to my colleagues in the more conservative press, i think they really didn't tell the truth about what was going to happen and the numbers. they wanted to make it seem not even like a close race. they wanted it to seem that mitt would win in a landslide. and many people were shocked to find out he didn't. >> i've watched and usually people -- not saying that they weren't gracious. mitt romney was v
for the jackson free press, specifically, staying on the mississippi voter i.d. story, when those of us up here in new york were having a heck of a time trying to follow the twists and turns of that mississippi voter i.d. story any other way. and we couldn't have done it without them. i'm thankful to the "miami herald" for keeping this great reporter, carol rosenberg, on the guantanamo beat, even when the country has largely turned away from that story. carol rosenberg's reporting is definitive and relentless, and it is a service to the country that the "miami herald" has kept her on that beat. i am thankful to the republicans and to the conservatives who will brave the people on their own side who tell them not to do it and who will nevertheless come talk to liberal hosts like me and the other liberal hosts like me here on msnbc. and yes, that means steve schmidt and michael steele and meghan mccain, who we've been able to bring on board officially here at this network, but also, everybody else on the right, who was willing to come on just as a guest, because you are not afraid to leave the ec
another guy jackson diehl. he is a democrat. he was very supportive of the islamic brotherhood. he was telling everybody, hey, they aren't bad guys. then jonathan cape hart who is a regular on msnbc. so, the post seems to stack this deck with far left guys who now are going to come after anybody with whom they disagree in a very personal kay. we don't care about their politics. they have a right to editorialize the way they want to. but when they start to, as you said, demonize people because of their skin color and where they live, it really gets to be extreme. >> right. they did that with you, too. as you said. >> bill: yeah, last week. >> so, let me give you two reasons why liberals in general do this. one, is that it's a way to shut people up. >> bill: sure, intimidate. >> right. it's -- nobody wants to be called a racist. so some people will be frightened by this and run away. and then the people who are calling you a racist, they win. the second reason, i believe, and i firmly believe this, psychological. there is no limits to white liberal guilt. so, if they can call you or
jackson where the clinic is. the clinic's owner tells us their applications were 50 pages-plus per doctor, per hospital. the applications took weeks to compile. each hospital, each time. two of them, the big teaching hospital in the city and the baptist hospital in town, they wouldn't even accept the doctors' applications. five other hospitals did agree to receive the doctors' applications, but they rejected them. not only the merits of the doctors as doctors but for administrative reasons like the hospital's policies on abortion or concern about disrupting the hospital's business within the community. so this thing designed by mississippi republicans to be impossible turned out to be impossible. they wanted to create a new regulation that the state's one last abortion clinic could not follow. because they wanted to shut it down. and we know this because governor phil bryant said so on tape. >> i think it's historic. today you see the first step in a movement, i believe, to do what we campaigned on, to say we're going to try to end abortion in mississippi. >> it is constitutionally protec
. good to see you. and che sheila jackson, a democc congresswoman from texas, and she's not joining us from texas today. she's out on the campaign trail in columbus, ohio. good to see you as well, congresswoman. >> fredricka, good to be with you this afternoon. >> excellent. let's begin. we're talking about these candidates, president obama, mitt romney, they are crisscrossing these battleground states. let me begin with you, congressman price. you heard kyung talking about colorado being so vital. it was obama country during the last election, but with the one third independent voters made up much of suburban moms, is this a strategy that romney is going to be spending more time there later on today. how focused is he on colorado and trying to sway perhaps those one third independent voters? >> that's colorado and it's wisconsin and it's ohio and pennsylvania and all of the other states that are still in play. and the independent voters are indeed absolutely pivotal. each candidate want to make sure they get out their base, their base voters. when we look at the independent votes whic
down in jackson, mississippi, slamming into a house and killing all three people on board. one person inside the house escaped with minor injuries. the plane's owner says all three men on board the piper pa-32, they were pilots, they were heading to an faa safety conference in raymond, mississippi. when their plane went down. some big news for car owners. toyota announcing a massive recall. close to 3 million cars worldwide. mostly two,000 four to 2009 prius models. 670,000 of these were sold in the u.s. >> i have a 2009 prius, what? >> very closely. here it is. it's issues with the car's steering system and their electric water pumps. toyota says, soledad, there have been no crashes and no injuries reported as a result of this problem but i think everyone, including you, who owns a prius model from 2004 to 2009 -- >> call your dealer. >> actually even those of us who don't owned prius are concerned with stars with steering or braking problems. we'd like that fixed, too. >> still ahead, some growing speculation about what nancy pelosi will announce today. you just heard from dana bash
of three hobbit films which serve as a prequel to peter jackson's lord of the rings trilogy. it has its american premiere next week here in new york. >> do you think americans will wear those little hats everyone was wearing? >> seems like a lot from that story but if anyone can do it peter jackson. >> those were a masterpiece. >> blockbusters. that's why they made all three, we can probably make 500 million each. >> easily. easily. >> all right. so we've been talking about the fiscal cliff, 34 days left until we go off the cliff. or slide down the cliff. there's been lots of metaphors about that combination of tax increases and deep spending cuts. both sides reporting little progress. the clock is ticking. everybody's talking about compromise. when you get into the details, not that much compromise. let's get to tim pawlenty, a top lobbyist for the banking industry serving as the ceo of the financial services roundtable which represents the 100 largest u.s. financial services companies. it's nice to have you with us, sir, nice to be with us. >> good morning, always good to be with you.
